When replacing a clock movement in an existing clock, the handshaft length and mounting dimensions must match the original movement to ensure proper fit and operation. A movement with a shaft that is too short will not extend far enough beyond the dial, while one that is too long may cause the hands and shaft to interfere with the glass door.
